What makes the Renew different from other walk-in showers?
The Renew uses a fixed screen rather than a hinged or sliding door, which keeps the frame strong and the entry completely clear. A shower curtain gives you privacy and keeps splashes in. It is often chosen as a replacement for an older walk-in bath.
Can a carer help someone shower in the Renew?
Yes. The open entry and fixed screen mean a carer can reach in to help without a door in the way. The folding seat lets the bather sit while being washed, and grab bars give both people something solid to hold on to.
Does the Renew have a shower door?
No. Instead of a door there is a fixed screen that forms part of the frame, and a shower curtain across the opening. That keeps the entrance clear for anyone using a walking stick or a frame, and there is no handle to grip or catch to release.
What seat options come with the Renew?
The Renew comes with a choice of folding seats in different styles. The seat folds flat against the wall when not in use, so the shower is still easy to walk into. Your surveyor can go through the styles with you at your appointment.
Where do the grab bars go on the Renew?
Grab bars come as part of the Renew and are positioned to give you something solid to hold as you step in and as you get up from the seat. Point out at the survey where you naturally reach for support, so they can be fitted to suit you.
How high is the step into the Renew?
The Renew uses an ultra low, slip-resistant tray, so the step up is small. Premier Care do not publish a fixed height, because the finished level depends on your floor and the plumbing underneath. Ask your surveyor to measure and confirm it on site.
How does the Renew stop the water getting too hot?
The Renew has thermostatic safety controls. These hold the water at the temperature you set and react if the cold supply drops, which protects against scalding. It is a useful safeguard for anyone with reduced feeling in their hands or feet.
Can the Renew replace an old walk-in bath?
Yes, and that is a common reason people choose it. If getting in and out of a bath has become difficult, or waiting for it to fill and drain is a problem, the Renew gives you a stylish shower in roughly the same footprint.
