Bordeaux, France

Ideal for a short and sunny break, Bordeaux has some unique attractions, including its world famous wines. You can explore the wine country through a range of excursions, tastings, and workshops. In addition, 1,810 hectares of Bordeaux is classed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, featuring astonishing architecture, which can be explored on foot in around two hours. Bordeaux's 18th century opera house is one of the most beautiful of its kind, and is a definite must-see.

Bordeaux

Tallinn, Estonia

Tallinn is a beautiful example of modern and ancient architecture co-existing in a beautiful landscape. The Estonia Concert Hall is where you'll find the Estonian National Opera and Ballet, and the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, a perfect way to spend an evening in this grand city. There are plenty of shops and markets to enjoy, and even a dedicated Knit Market, featuring hand-knitted clothes and accessories.

Vienna, Austria

Vienna is steeped in musical history, with composers such as Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, and Strauss having been born, or lived, in this fantastic city. A trip to Vienna is not complete without a visit to the impressive Stephansdom, a gothic church which has stood in Vienna since the 12th century. Make sure you stop by one of the city's many cafés to enjoy some mouthwatering apple strudel.

Prague, Czech Republic

Perfect for those who like to potter about, Prague's winding cobbled streets can be explored on foot at a leisurely pace. Head to the Old Town Hall Tower to see the famous Astronomical Clock in action, on the hour, every hour. The Old Royal Palace, which dates back to 1135, is another notable landmark, and can be reached by tram for those who prefer a nippier form of transport.

Prague

Reykjavík, Iceland

Those who aren't put off by the cooler climate of the world's northernmost city will be immensely rewarded by this small, but perfectly formed, destination. Old Reykjavík sits at the heart of the city, and is a good starting point for those interested in history, while the National Museum contains artefacts from settlement right up until the modern day. For those with adventure in their hearts, it's possible to take a trip to see the northern lights but the best time for this is between September and mid-April.

Dublin, Ireland

A little closer to home, Dublin is bursting with activities to suit every holidaymaker. Brimming with over 1,000 pubs, as well as the world famous Guinness Storehouse, it's the perfect place to enjoy a tipple or two. If you'd like to drink in some culture, you can enjoy the Chester Beatty library, which holds more than 20,000 books, manuscripts, and artefacts, and also holds regular talks and workshops on a variety of subjects.

Dubrovnik, Croatia

Located on the Adriatic coast, Dubrovnik is the perfect combination of sea and city, ideal for those who want to combine sightseeing with some relaxing days in the sunshine. Explore the marble streets or take the cable car up to Mount Srdj to enjoy a spectacular view of the city below and its glorious coastline.

Dubrovnik

Copenhagen, Denmark

If a Nordic excursion sounds tempting, then Copenhagen will be right up your street. Soak up Danish culture in the Nationalmuseet, while an evening turn around the enchanting Tivoli Gardens is certain to put a smile on your face. It's a short train ride away but a visit to Louisiana - Denmark's modernist gallery - is definitely worth it to get up close to works by Pablo Picasso, and Francis Bacon.

Rome, Italy

There's something for everyone to enjoy in Rome, with its 3,000 year history evident in the city's layout, and some of its ancient monuments, such as the Colosseum, still standing today. There is plenty for art lovers to enjoy, with statues, mosaics, and frescos on display in galleries, churches, and on the streets themselves! Treat yourself to a relaxed evening of delicious food in one of the city's many al fresco establishments.
